Jonathan Yoors - Captain
Nationality: American

Brittany Yoors - Chef
Nationality: American

Jonathan is originally from Rockport Massachusetts, a small fishing village an hour north of Boston. He has captained boats all over the world but his favorite place to sail and spend time is in The Bahamas . Jonathan is a USCG 500ton captain with over 12 years yachting experience and 15 years owning and captaining his own boats, you can rest assured knowing you have an experienced captain at the helm. Jonathan loves to fish, spear fish, snorkel, hike, kayak, paddle board, explore the wilderness and enjoy all types of nature and wildlife the Bahamas has to offer.

Brittany is originally a southern California native with a love of traveling the world. She is a professionally trained chef with nearly 15 years professional food service experience. She is also an avid naturalist and enjoys opening the minds of those around her by taking them foraging for local wild edibles in the areas she is on charter in. Brittany is very passionate about food, the environment, critter watching, kayaking, paddle boarding, spear fishing, snorkeling, and other water sports. You can expect to enjoy exceptional locally caught food while chartering.

Jonathan and Brittany are a married couple who have been exploring the world together for 7 years now. They have sailed around the east coast of the US and the Caribbean for 5 years, cruised Alaska for 2 years, and sailed across the Atlantic. They both share a love of adventure and a deep love for nature.

Shelby Krog

Position: Stew
Nationality: South African
Description:
Education/Certifications: STCW-10, Level 11 Food Safety/Hygiene, PADI Open Water, Silver Service, Flower Arrangement, Table Setting, ENG 1; Liberal Arts Degree in Literature and Journalism with a minor in Marine Biology and Photography, Sarah Lawrence College
Languages Spoken: Fluent in English; can read and write in French and Spanish; can speak conversational Afrikaans

Shelby Krog was born in South Africa and grew up by the ocean in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. She was a cheerleader and a lifeguard, and once school wrapped every day, she’d head to the beach or sail hobie cats. On her vacations back home in South Africa, she’d spend her days surfing and hiking.

Although she’s been sailing her entire life and is from a yachting family (her mom was a Chief Stew, both her father and stepfather are Captains/Boat Builders, and her uncle is a famous regatta champion), her professional career in yachting began two years ago when she left her own business behind to work and travel on the water. Shelby wishes to work her way up the ranks and eventually run the interior of a large charter program in Alaska or the Caribbean, and eventually own a business again. At this time, Shelby is the Stew on M/Y IMPULSE.

In her spare time, Shelby practices and teaches yoga. She is also an avid reader and writer, enjoys roller skating and scuba diving, and is passionate about marine conservation. Her favourite place to visit is Antigua where she spent many summers sailing with her father. Fun fact -- there is both a donkey and a virgin cocktail named for her there!

Shawn Riera

Position: Mate
Nationality: American
Description:
Education/Certifications: STCW-95, ENG-1, USCG AUX Boater Safety Course, IYT Ribmaster license w/ ICC, PWC Operator w/ ICC, Red Cross First Aid/ CPR certified, PADI Open Water Diver.
Languages Spoken: English and Spanish

Shawn Riera was born in Arizona but spent most of his childhood in Eugene, Oregon. He started boating at the age of 10, and at 15, he began working with Kings Fishing and Guide Service, where he assisted the captain and worked on charter bookings for fishing trips in the rivers, lakes and offshore waters of Oregon. He spent his winters surfing in California and working as a junior surf instructor, with the occasional escape to Mount Bachelor in Oregon for some snowboarding and backcountry skiing.

His father became a private chef aboard yachts several years ago, and Shawn decided that a career in yachting was the right move. His love of the sea, fishing and watersports pushed him to move to Florida where he could join the industry. His love of the ocean has grown over the past couple of years working on the decks of 30-40 meter yachts and learning from captains. Currently, he is Mate aboard M/Y IMPULSE. His ultimate goal is to become a captain, and he’s currently studying for his Location Masters License through USCG. He looks forward to exploring more of the world, but up until now, the beauty of both the Bahamas and the Caribbean have captured his heart.

In addition to fishing, yachting, watersports and snowboarding, Shawn enjoys crossfit and personal training.
